Whats New

Early Years Foundation Stage
We are looking forward to introducing the New Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) from September. The aim of the EYFS is to help young children achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes. It combines the National Standards for under 8’s Day care & Childminding, the Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage and The Birth to Three Matters Framework to make 1 legal document for all Ofsted registered settings.
Louise attended training given by the Birth to Five Service this has been disseminated to the other staff at staff meetings and a training day. As a team we evaluated what we are currently achieving and have reviewed our planning within all areas of the nursery to deliver the EYFS.

New Projects
We have undergone a few refurbishments over the last few months - this includes redecoration of the dining room with new tables. Our Entrance Hall and Cloakroom have been decorated with a new leaflet holder and display board in the entrance for parents to access useful information freely. Refurbishment to our Rumpus room includes a lower ceiling and new lighting as well as being newly decorated.

Healthy Childcare
Over the last year we have been taking part in a pilot project for Healthy Childcare Status, which is in conjunction with Healthy Schools in Lincolnshire. The 4 themes we have been working towards are Physical activity, Personal, Social & Health Education, Healthy Eating and Emotional Health & Well-Being.
We have embarked on lots of new experiences and projects starting with all parents and children being invited to our initial launch in August 2007 - this led on to us introducing tooth brushing into our daily routines, amendments of our menu’s after parent consultation, the production of a recipe book containing children’s favourite recipes, growing of our own produce in the garden along with many more smaller amendments to our practice.
Our portfolio has gone for accreditation and we are awaiting an assessment visit in September this year. Our practices continue to develop alongside this project and with parental views and ideas.

Competition Winners
We were delighted to have been judged the winners of the nursery sections Year of Food and Farming completion after submitting our gardens growing diary. Katie has spent hours in the garden with the children planting, watering and tending to our vegetables. This has been an exciting learning experience for all parties and we will be continuing to grow our own produce.
