We Take Care
After School Care
Between about 4 and 8 years we are able to offer after school care
for children. This is particularly beneficial when the child has
already been to the Nursery and can relate to the Nursery Nurses
and continue their friendships. Experience has shown that they also
act as 'mentors' to the younger children; helping where they are
able... it is all very positive.
We know that children develop in different ways
at different paces. The experiences of each child will develop individual
needs to realize their own potential whilst feeling happy and secure.
Weekly activity sheets will be displayed on the parent's notice
board. You are encouraged to take an interest in the variety of
subjects and perhaps continue some elements of the programme in
the home environment.
Our Nursery includes activities and experiences
that will influence attitudes to learning for years ahead. Indeed,
a child that has experienced a good pre-school is much more likely
to find the transition to school and the National Curriculum Key
Stage One learning programme much less traumatic.
High quality pre-school programmes have been
found to improve adult status and are of lasting importance... you
will not be disappointed with your choice.
Educational Needs
The government has replaced "Desirable Learning Outcomes"
following advice from the Qualifications as Curriculum Authority.
All children's nurseries will be inspected based
partly on advice now detailed in the "Early Learning Goals".
This is in addition to existing requirements detailed in the Code
of Practice for special educational needs and the Office of Standards
in Education. It is on the successful completion of the inspection
by OFSTED that successful registration depends.
The `Early Learning Goals' retain the six areas
of learning identified in the `Desirable Outcomes`, with the addition
of emotional development to personal and social progress.
As before, each area has its own set of specific
goals. They are:-
 |
Personal, Social and Emotional Development |
 |
 |
Mathematical Development |
 |
 |
Physical Development |
 |
Our curriculum needs to be carefully structured
and requires quality time with each child. Within the structure
we have three strands:-
 |
Provision for different starting points
from which children develop their learning; building on what
they can already achieve. |
 |
 |
Planned and purposeful activity which provides
opportunities for teaching and learning both indoors and outdoors. |
Our curriculum is structured but flexible to
individual children's needs and circumstances.
It is the base on which we build and permits
everyone to achieve a measured progress to a self- motivated programme
of self-improvement.
The Dining Area
This area allows social interaction during meal times and provides
the perfect opportunity to develop good table manners with a knowledge
of food that is further encouraged through cooking activities.
